Proposal 1 - Daily Floor Evaluations

The purpose of the Daily Floor Evaluations is to move clerks, supervisors, management and board members from their delicate offices and dullishly boring desks and introduce them into viewing and judging the building and the way things happen in it from a totally unique perspective, hopefully similar to or more in line with what the good customer of the DMV sees. 

The product of the evaluation is constructive criticism for how to better operate or maintain the DMV.

Examples of items to look for: broken chairs, burnt out lights, outdated posters, stained carpet, graffiti, customers cursing, exposed cables, tape remnants, left behind items, glitched TVs, cigarette butts.

What is the DE?

The DE is meant to be a tool to teach employees to be alert and observant to their surroundings by requiring them to complete a routine shift that requires nothing but filling in a questionnaire. The shift should be about an hour and the evaluator can be any staff, clerk, manager, lead, new hire, janitorial, or other county employee.

What happens to the DE after the questionnaire is completed?

Every DE shall be publicly displayed on a provided corkboard. The employees will vote on Friday afternoon for the BEST DE and are encouraged to provide feedback on the DE to each evaluator.

What is the purpose of the DE?

The purpose of the DE is to build observational skills and reinforce those skills by working together to write better DE’s.

What is the reward for completing the best DE each week?

The winner each week will be awarded a ribbon by the volunteer
